Munster's winning run of 10 games against the Welsh regions came to a halt as Cardiff fought back to take a huge step towards an end of season play-off spot.
There was little between the teams but two yellow cards for Munster forwards Finn Wycherley and Jack O’Donoghue proved disastrous as they crucially conceded three tries in their absence.
Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt: “It was a really good contest, end to end, blow for blow and we were fortunate to come out on the right side.”
