CAPTAIN Kyle Steyn scored two tries as champions Glasgow bounced back from last week’s defeat to in style.

No.8 Matt Fagerson, openside Rory Darge, -half Jamie Dobie and Euan Ferrie all scored in a one-sided win with Benetton going down to 12 men after Scott Scrafton’s red card.

Glasgow coach Franco Smith said: “This is an important step. There’s plenty to work on but I’m happy with our performance.”

Glasgow struck first in the fifth minute, a neat pass from Adam Hastings setting up Steyn to interlink with Josh McKay and Kyle Rowe before dashing over. Benetton replacement Paolo Odogwu had a try ruled out for a forward pass and Glasgow doubled their lead when Sione Tuipulotu spun through the defence to put Fagerson in. Benetton loosehead Mirco Spagnolo scored from a lineout maul but on the cusp of half-time lock Scrafton was sent-off for a shoulder barge to Hastings’ head.

Jacob Umaga kicked Benetton to within four points after the restart, but then it was all Glasgow. Darge gathered a loose ball to run in from 30m before fancy footwork saw Dobie skip over. Odogwu was sin-binned for an aerial challenge on the hour, before Steyn ran a pinpoint line past two defenders to score. Eli Snyman saw yellow for illegally played the nine, then Tuipulotu’s quick hands put Ferrie over in the left corner.
