ULSTER struck late as substitute Dave Shanahan’s last-gasp try earned a dramatic win over the Champions, .

The visitors piled the pressure on from the get-go. Declining an early penalty, their fast start yielded reward in the sixth minute when hooker, Johnny Matthews touched down. Ulster’s -half, Nathan Doak then slotted a penalty.

Two minutes later, the Kingspan Stadium’s polite applause transformed to celebratory pandemonium as debutant, Aidan Morgan charged down Jordan’s kick. Although Jordan initially tackled him, Ulster calmly recycled with Morgan motoring over from Doak’s short pass. With the latter’s conversion, the Irish province suddenly led by five.

However, Glasgow swiftly swung the momentum back their way.

Henco Venter pushed forwards before the Springbok was hauled down. Like Ulster before them, Glasgow went through the phrases, Venter rumbling over with Jordan’s conversion restoring their two-point advantage.

Ulster then struck through David McCann’s try. They quickly surrendered their lead, though, as Glasgow captain, Kyle Steyn replied instantly. Shanahan then snuck across to cue Ulster delight.
