A GUTSY late call to go for a 5m scrum from a penalty failed to pay off for Bedford as brave London Scottish defending enabled them to cling on for a hard-earned victory at Goldington Road.
Injury-hit Bedford had led for most of the game and numerous phases had taken them to within touching distance of the tryline at the death but, having ambitiously opted for a scrum, the Exiles’ excellent defence held out to thwart Bedford.
