JACOBPerry’s late penalty salvaged a draw for Hartpury, although having wrapped up a bonus point before half time, Carnegie’s second half revival was a reminder of lessons the Gloucestershire outfit must learn this season.
Played in perfect conditions, the match was a clash of styles – Hartpury’s running game against Carnegie’s abrasive pragmatism.
Carnegie started the better as Hartpury gave up a stream of early penalties. Two Alex Davies kicks put them into a six-point lead, before the home team started to find their feet.
