THIS was a breathless encounter with an undercurrent of molten lava that threatened to erupt at any moment, but Blackheath held on to win and consign Rams to a sixth successive defeat.
Tom Baldwin was over for the hosts within 70 seconds after Jake Hennessey had made the line break.
But fine handling from the visitors saw impressive Jack Rampton send Ollie Hodgson across, only for Jordan Burns to put Blackheath back in front after Markus Burcham cut through.
