Murray shines so bright on debut

…………………….24 B Moseley…………….. 7

RAMS withstood a physical battle to record a magnificent seventh straight victory.

The hosts took an eighth-minute lead as Rowan Grundy snaffled an interception on his own 22 before freeing Tomek Pozniak to run in from halfway.

Fraser Honey added the extras before the hosts extended the lead at the end of the first quarter, a patient maul ending with Ryan Lo-mas dotting down.

Rams -half Jake Murray was pulling the strings beautifully on debut, but despite dominating, the hosts were unable to add to their advantage before the break.

Visiting full-back Sam Pointon was yellow-carded for a deliberate knock-on midway through the third quarter, and things got worse for the Midlanders as Tighe Maxwell-Whiteley was sent off for a dangerous tip-tackle on Honey.

Rams were then temporarily reduced to 14 as Morgan MacRae was sin-binned for retaliation, but Zach Clow then cut a fine line for a converted score.

Max Hayman was then yellow carded as Rams illegally brought down a maul for a Moseley penalty try.

But Birmingham’s Will Safe then went for the same offence before Robbie Stapley powered over from the back of a scrum to finish the job.
