RICHMOND emerged victorious from a brutal derby defeating rivals Rosslyn Park in dramatic fashion yesterday.

The visitors opened the scoring within five minutes thanks to a Callum Grieve penalty, but their lead didn’t last long as Park replied via winger Benji Marfo.

Ten minutes later, a yellow for Grieve after allowed Park to extend their lead through James Cordy-Redden.

Richmond quickly responded with a try of their own that saw David Massey hit a hard line to crash over. Then, late in the half, the visitors piled on the pressure which resulted in another three points from the boot of Grieve and the sin-binning of Josh Addams for an accumulation of penalties against Park.

In the play of the first period, Callum Torpey rode a maul over the line to edge Richmond in front.

Park regained a narrow one-point lead through Josh Addams in the second half. In the final ten minutes, the visitors had two opportunities to re-take the lead from the tee, however both penalties were missed.

Then, in the 80th minute, Richmond’s Lewis Dennett dropped back into the pocket and coolly slotted a drop-goal to rescue victory from the jaws of defeat.
