HAVING lost to the promoted Sedley Park last week, Esher looked to maintain an impressive 12-match winning home run following an superb campaign in National 2 East where they were crowned champions.

From the first whistle, both struggled to find their rhythm with neither able to maintain possession for long stretches. Rams, known for their pack struggled to connect and looked jittery early on.

Despite the nervous play, the visitors eventually took the lead when captain Max Hayman continued his try-scoring form.

Esher fought back with Charlie Claire capitalising on an interception pass from Drew Humberstone to run in from 50m out before Tomek Pozniak responded. The half finished Rams 19-12 up.

Esher’s Sam Bullock opened the scoring in the second half, but this seemed to upset the visitor. Rams responded via successive scores from Morgan Macrae and a second from Pozniak.

A conciliation bonus-point try came from Ed Volley but unfortunately the visitors responded once again with scores from Morgan Macrae and Axel Kalling-Smith, before the game came to a close with the hosts losing 43-23.
