SALE’S superior game management ensured a well-earned away victory in challenging conditions at Plymouth.
An early Sale penalty by James Robins was followed by a handling error from Albion allowing a runaway try for Sale’s Obi Ene, galloping in from 75 metres, with Robins duly converted.
Following sustained Albion pressure, Connor Eastgate gave Fankie Dart space to score in a corner, with the former converting.
Albion’s inability to clear their lines presented Corin Thunder an unconverted try from a driving maul.
An exciting run by Albion’s Harrison Legg resulted in a yellow for Obi and the penalty led to an Archie Hill try in a corner, with Eastgate again adding the extras. Just before half-time, Pete Vickers forced his way over for another unconverted try.
The second half was played in difficult conditions with Sale consolidating their lead with a bonus-point try from Fergus Mulchrone.
Albion responded via a Craig Duncan score creating a thrilling final quarter. A 74th-minute scrum penalty by William Hunt secured the win for Sale, although a last-minute bonus-point try from Jack Oulton provided some consolation for the home team.
