Is promotion to Championship far too big a gamble to take?

Blackheath have aspirations to go as far as they can in the rugby pyramid, but head coach James Shanahan questions why any club would want to go up to the ‘Wild West’ Championship if the RFU aren’t going to fund it properly.
The Londonders have endured a difficult season so far, lying eighth ahead of this weekend. Four wins from their opening six games has been counteracted by disappointing results in recent weeks, and Shanahan feels his side are two wins short of where he expected them to be.
