Hull came within seconds of their first win of the season and fell to a last-kick-of-the-game penalty by Sam Morley.
The hosts started well and good hands saw Timoci Waqadau race in for the opening try.
And ten minutes later a dominant Hull scrum yielded good ball for Reece Dean to score another unconverted try.
But a dropped ball by Hull saw Hari Lang race 50 yards for a try converted by Morley.
Hull, however, fought back and two penalties from Dean gave his side a 16-12 half-time lead.
