Sale edged out Plymouth Albion in a 12-try thriller played in slippery conditions.
Josh Brown opened the scoring for the hosts after just four minutes before Neville Edwards crossed the whitewash after Mark Dixon pulled off an outrageous offload. James Robinson converted both tries.
Plymouth came roaring back to take a 21-14 lead following a brace from Thomas Putt, which were both converted by the scorer himself, and a converted try for Michael Stupple.
