MOWDEN Park held on for a narrow win as Garry Law’s side ran in four tries to claim maximum points despite a late chance for TJs to win it at the death.

Tonbridge opened the scoring through the boot of Tom White before a well-timed pass from Euan McKirdy saw DMP winger Ollie Walker sprint over under the sticks.

A TJs driving maul saw Ryan Jackson dot down to regain the lead but the remainder of the first half was dominated by the hosts. Euan McKirdy sniped over on the half hour mark but the home side twice spurned chances to extend their lead before Max Davies found a gap in the defence to gallop over.

For the second week running, Mowden Park conceded a brace of tries to let a half-time lead slip. First Bobby Bratton burrowed over from close range, then Kyle McGhie latched onto a break to dive over and give his side a slender 17-20 lead.

Mowden rallied and retook the lead with five minutes left when George Shannon powered over from a driving maul.

Tonbridge worked their way into the 22 and a penalty gave them a chance to snatch a late win, but Harvey Young’s attempt missed to the left.
