THERE is more than an element of Groundhog Day surrounding Hull Ionians performances, a calamitous start giving the opposition an early advantage before a spirited stand stems the flow until superior firepower drains the resources, leading to heavy defeat.
This fixture against Richmond followed the pattern, with Rob Kirby grabbing the first of Richmond’s eight tries in the opening minute following Ionians’ inability to kick off into a stiff breeze.
