PLYMOUTH Albion stretched their winning run to three games with a narrow victory over Esher in front of a healthy pre-Christmas crowd at Brickfields.
Esher contributed fully to an entertaining encounter and returned to London with a bonus point to show for their efforts.
Plymouth under pressure were then penalised for not rolling away but Roberts missed a fairly simple shot at goal.
They made a number of unforced errors but took the lead when hooker Jamie Salter finished off a catch a drive with full-back Matt Shepherd converting.
