A FIRST home win of the season, and a comfortable one at that, for Blackheath who made better of the tricky conditions to emerge deserved victors.
The rain, which fell relentlessly, made handling difficult for both sides, but Darlington fared the worst, with ball slipping from grasp frequently to deny the visitors any real continuity in attack until it was way too late.
The first half-hour contained multiple handing errors, and a lot of aerial ping-pong, but the deadlock was finally broken on 31 minutes.
