ESHER and Plymouth began as the bottom two in the table, but it was the Devonians who did just enough to secure the win in a scrappy game.
Plymouth’s win owed much to the powerhouse display of skipper Herbie Stupple who notched a hat-trick of tries.
Esher took the lead when fly-half Owen Waters kicked a penalty before Plymouth replied with a try from wing Jon Dawe.
Waters restored the home lead with a second penalty before Plymouth gifted Esher their opening try by Waters who added the conversion.
