STORTFORD lost scrumhalf Alex Patton to injury early on and, in an expansive opening, the first period remarkably ended scoreless.
The second half was very different, with DMP scoring a converted try after three minutes through hooker Ralph Appleby.
Stortford were awarded a penalty for a deliberate knock-on, which George Cullen converted.
And, within a minute, they were ahead through a penalty try awarded for a dangerous tackle, as Rob Duff touched down.
