ABONUS-POINT win for Cambridge looked unlikely with five minutes of the game remaining.
Caldy led by 16 points to 10 and, driven by their splendid pack, had been in the ascendancy throughout the second half.
However, with a strong wind behind them, the Blood and Sand stole a line-out five metres from their line and hoofed the ball downfield.
A splendid kick chase turned over the ball and, with a try by Albert Portsmouth, suddenly Cambridge were suddenly back in the hunt.
