ALTHOUGH it’s not mathematically certain, Plymouth Albion virtually secured second place in the league table after beating Ampthill in their final home game of the season.
On a fine day for running rugby the game at Brickfields turned out to be a titanic battle between the two large packs.
Ampthill looked to be in the driving seat at the interval when they went in level, a further try apiece meant it was a tight finish with Rupert Cooper’s late try proving crucial.
