Sidcup rescued by flurry of late tries

WITH four games gone, the table is beginning to make some sense.

Newcomers Sidcup are in pole position following a bonus point 24-44 win away at Guildford. Max O’Leary opened the scoring with a try converted by Josh Twyford, who also added a penalty, but three converted tries gave the home side a 21-10 lead at the interval.

In the second half, a further penalty from Guildford increased the advantage but tries by the visitors from Jon West, Dan Thomas, Louis Keeley (2) , Jack Dutton and Oliver Vidgeon, with Twyford successful with two more conversions, sealed the win.

Unable to take a bonus point, have to settle for second spot, crossing for just two tries in their 24-21 win at home to Hertford. Tom Ceilam and Malcolm were the try scorers, with Owen Thomas landing one conversion three penalties and a drop goal, which proved the difference.

Third-placed Tring beat Tunbridge Wells 16-6. Harry Green was the sole try scorer, converted by Tom Newton, who also hit three penalties. Frankie Reynolds, with two penalties, replied.

romped away at Westcombe Park, scoring seven tries in their 15-49 victory at Goddington Dene. Sam Brown and Ross Merrick both went in for two, along with Charlie Jobling, Joe Vanderom and Jack Jones, who also slotted two penalties and four conversions.

Shelfordwere 60- 10 winners at home to Southend Saxons. Charlie Parkhouse led the way with four tries, Richy McIver claimed two with Shingai Chiwanga, Grant Anderson and Simon Hbek over for one each in the win. Josh Simmons kicked six conversions and a penalty. Chris Shields and Burt Radzevivius were the try scorers for Saxons.

Barnes beat 64-21. Alex Hind went in for a hat-trick, Matt Cornish grabbed two and Nick Bramier, Jack Franklin, David Butler, Tom O’Toole and Matt Steele one apiece, Charlie Wicks kicked seven conversions.

Sutton & Epsomwere 19-60 winners at Towcestrians. Callum Threlfal, Wes McGimpsey and Alex Chalcraft were the try scorers for ‘The Tows’.
