Titans crush the challenge of Blues

……………….57

Devonport…………… 20

THIS was an appropriate game for today as Taunton having an Armed Forces Covenant, recognised the Fallen in a ceremony of Remembrance before the start of the game.

The Titans opened the scoring after two minutes when Rocky Prowse scored in a corner. The Titans were their own worst enemy, giving away ten penalties and a free-kick in the first half which saw Devonport kick a penalty after 17 minutes.

Minutes later, the Titans’ prop Vaea Taione scored a try. Devonport then punished the Titans with a catch and drive, their hooker Aiden Taylor scoring.

The Titans’ third try was an solo effort by captain Ratu Vakalutukali, who fielded the ball 30 metres out, showed several side-steps, pace and strength to score.

Minutes later, Taione barged over for his second and a 24-8 half-time lead. The Titans stretched the lead with another from Vakalutukali, before two yellows for the visitors saw Archie Spokes and Oscar Kolowski score.

Connor Banks took the score past 50 with a quickfire brace. Credit must go to Devenport who scored an outstanding try from Billy Sutton which was converted and with the last move of the match a try for Charles Groves.
