Daniels’ magic is the key to a top Clifton triumph

CLIFTON’S Luke Daniels inspired his side to a bonus-point win against the Reds.

Redruth were quickly off the mark with an early try from Bobby Wigginton, with Dean Wills kicking the first of his three conversions.

Clifton levelled the game following good play from Daniels to put Alex Kilbane in for a try.

This was bettered by Tom Quinlan who added a further four conversions.

A penalty from Wills nudged Redruth back into the lead before Daniels and Zak Hamid combined to put Matt Smith away for a score.

Back came the Reds, with Wigginton making it a brace before Hamid finished off a fine move following forward pressure to give Clifton a 19-15 half-time lead.

After the break, Kilbane secured the bonus point with his second try.

Wills pegged back three points with his second penalty for Redruth, before Clifton put some daylight on the scoreboard through the irresistible Daniels.

A delightful try from Sam James gave Redruth some hope, but Will Owen’s try extinguished any hopes of a Redruth revival.

A power-driver of a try from Shaun Buzza gave Redruth a bonus point. But fittingly, Clifton had the word when Ricky Cano went over from close for their seventh try.
