DEVONPORT’S tough start to the season showed no signs of abating as Clifton claimed the full haul of points in an eight-try victory.
Services were again competitive in the opening 40 minutes, limiting their visitors to rare forays into their half.
After Alex Kilbane swept over twice within the opening 14 minutes – at which point you feared for Devonport – the hosts got a grip on proceedings, their defence working intelligently to nullify a clearly potent Clifton back line.
