IN-FORM welcomed Taunton for the first time in the two clubs histories in the opening game of the season – and couldn’t have made a better start.

Both teams named strong line-ups for a game that promised a lot of great .

It took over 20 minutes for the opening score of the game, going the way of Loughborough with a try from Alex Wainwright, but the extras were missed.

Taunton hit back soon after with a Lucas Yapp penalty to make the scores 5-3 after 30 minutes.

The Students struck again just before halftime with a try from star man Theo Mayell to make the score at the interval 12-3.

And it was all Loughborough in the second half.With Loughborough in total control, they added their further three tries to claim maximum points as their visitors faded.

No.8 Mayell deservedly doubled his tally in the 52nd minute.

Then Daniel Eckersley struck in the 76th minute before Elliot Gourlay put the icing on the cake with the try in the final minute to crown a quality opening triumph.
