RHYS Williams snatched a dramatic victory with a last-gasp penalty which helped Bournville complete their most successful National Leagues season with a bonus point victory.

The replacement flyhalf held his nerve to stroke over the longrange kick into a difficult swirling wind to secure a tenth win of the campaign which also lifted Bournville to their highest league placing.

The win was wildly celebrated at the whistle but, in truth, Bournville made very hard work of subduing Hinckley who appeared on course for victory with skipper Rory Vowles contributing 17 points, including their third first-half try.

Star man Ben Meakin (Bournville)

With their lineout misfiring, Bournville struggled to gain attacking momentum but a well-taken interception try from centre Sam Grimshaw just before half-time gave them a lift.

Lock Ben Meakin powered over early in the second half to reduce the deficit to a point but Vowles landed two penalties from in front to keep Hinckley ahead.

Full-back Owen Williams bagged the try bonus for Bournville nine minutes from time and that looked like being a consolation until Hinckley were penalised at a ruck and his brother, Rhys, accepted the unexpected gift.
