Wayward kicking blows the bonus

Loughborough S….33

  ………………..22

LOUGHBOROUGH produced a stunning second-half tur naround to defeat Redruth.

Frustratingly for the men from Cor nwall, their failure to convert tries cost them two bonus points, although their four tries gave them one.

The Students took the lead after five minutes, Jack Kinder touching down and Alex Wainwright converting.

Seven minutes later, Matthew Bowden went over in the corner for Redruth. They took the lead midway through the first half with hooker Matthew Pritchard’s close-range try, though Harvey Beckerleg couldn’t improve either score.

The game see-sawed back in Loughborough’s favour though Isaac Bell’s score was too near to the touchline for Wainwright to improve.

Back came Redruth and a penalty try gave them the 17-12 advantage at the break.

The Students regained the lead after 62 minutes, Ed Harvey crashing over, and Wainwright’s made no mistake off the tee.

Olly Fisher scored the bonus point try with 10 minutes left and Ben Taylor took over the kicking duties.

Seb Smith got a fifth Loughborough try, again converted by Taylor before Dean Bonds got Redruth’s fourth.
