WET conditions, and a greasy surface, meant the game was punctuated by knock-ons and dropped balls.
In a forward-dominated match, Hinckley’s powerful pack got the better of the line-outs and the breakdowns, especially early on.
This, combined with a decent kicking game, made life difficult for Chester.
Hinckley’s poor discipline throughout – several yellow cards and a stream of penalties – gave Chester opportunities but they were unable to make full use of them.
