CHESTER held off a determined second-half surge from Newport (Salop) as they claimed a narrow win on the road.
The visitors led 22-5 at the break and then 32-15 with nine minutes remaining, but Newport came roaring back to close to within three points and leave Chester hanging on.
Great hands put Newport’s Ethan Harley through for an unconverted try within two minutes.
