Slick Clifton proved too strong for Exeter University as they maintained their challenge at the top end of the table.
Although much of the first half was evenly matched, Clifton showed a sublime kicking game to gain territory and mistakes meant Exeter ended the half scoreless.
The away side made their intentions clear early in the first half as star man Matty Ward ran in two tries in the first 20 minutes, the second off the back of a cultured chip from fly- -half Luke Cozens, who was faultless off the tee.
