A torrid affair at Topsham saw Hinckley hold off a late Exeter fightback to claim a narrow victory.
From the first whistle it was clear Exeter would have a tough day dealing with Hinkley’s scrum threat, and captain Alex Salt was the beneficiary as they pushed Exeter over their own line in the first four minutes.
