TYNEDALE paid the price for a woeful first half, and although they improved in the second period, they left themselves with far too much to do.
Ionians took the lead in the first minute with a Lewis Minikin penalty, and put Tynedale under pressure for the rest of the half, taking full advantage of the frequent fumbles and misplaced kicks of the Northumbrians.
Star man Minikin added his second penalty after 24 minutes before an interception gave Sam Pocklington an easy run-in from half-way two minutes later.
