HULL Ionians paid the price for conceding too many early penalties as they lost narrowly to their city rivals.
Six penalties in the first quarter saw them concede 15 unanswered points. A break by Hull’s David Halaifonua released Michael Adlard to score, before sustained pressure released Harry Dawkins in the corner. Fynlay Hobson added the conversion and a penalty.
A powerful penalty line-out drive saw centre Bureta Faraimo run clean through, and Hobson’s goal made it 0-22.
