Home fires still burn after try-fest

Harrogate……………. 19

SHEFFIELD continued their impressive home form from last season with a nine-try demolition of Harrogate.

Sheffield’s expansive style of play was to the fore as early as the second minute as Alex Fawdry rounded off an impressive set of attacking phases to score by the posts and give Eliot Fisher the simplest of conversions for an ideal start.

Chris Hooper added a quick double to add to Harrogate’s woes and it looked grim for them as Sheffield were 17-0 up after only 15 minutes.

To their credit, though, the impressive centre Kristan Dobson sliced through the Sheffield defence from turnover ball to get Harrogate on the board.

But Sheffield’s attacking game was relentless as Fawdry added his second and Fisher also went over to make it 31-5 before Edward Challis pulled a try back.

Sheffield started the second half where they left off in the first with tries for replacement -half Matthew Drennan and a tremendous solo score by centre Will Smith. Callum Posa converted both.

Harrogate showed fighting spirit though, with another fantastic line break and try from Dobson, but normal service resumed for Sheffield with late scores for Ryan Burrows and George Castledine.
