Wharfedale…. 34
Tynedale……….28
WHARFEDALE came out on top of a superb match as they survived Tynedale’s comeback.
Straight from the kick-off, a punt ahead was charged down, allowing Joe Fawcett to touch down under the posts. Sam Gaudie’s conversion hit a post, two of three which were missed.
Harry Bullough scored next and this was converted, and within the first 12 minutes the Greens had notched a third try through impressive hooker Ben Patchett.
But the start of a resurgence from Tynedale saw them score through Will Roberts followed by a drop-kick conversion by Cameron Grant.
Roberts was on the scoresheet again after 30 minutes making it 17-15. The only yellow card then went to Wharfedake’s Brad Viner.
Gaudie sniped through four minutes later, but Roberts’ third try, converted by Grant, equalised the score at 22-22 before Tynedale took the lead with a penalty by Grant.
At the start of the second half Fawcett scored his second try, before Grant kicked a second penalty to restore Tynedale’s’s lead.
But after 70 minutes Fawcett scored his third try to match the efforts of Tynedale’s Roberts. This was well converted by Omari Kaup-Samuels.
