Harrogate…………….29

Wharfedale…………35

AN enterprising match saw Wharfedale run out winners on an excellent day for open .

Harrogate scored first in the fourth minute when Tom Steene kicked a penalty, though Dale immediately responded when Sam Gaudie went over and converted his own try. Gate took the lead in the 17th minute through Conor Miller, converted by Steene.

However, Dale went back in front ten minutes later through Jake Armstrong, with Gaudie adding the extras.

Gate deservedly went ahead in the 31st minute when debutant Sean Triana scored his first try, with Steene adding the conversion.

Wharfedale came out a different side in the second half, scoring three converted tries in ten minutes from the 57th minute to the 67th.

Firstly, Oliver Cicognini went over under the posts, then Jack Pinder scored the fourth try, before Gaudie crossed for his second of the afternoon. His conversions took his tally to 20 points overall.

Gate fought back, though, Jacob Percival scoring in the right-hand corner, and Triana grabbed his second to give Gate four tries. Ko-die Brook’s conversion ensured Gate got were also rewarded with a losing-bonus point.
