FYLDE came from behind in the last minute, defeating their local foes.

The home side started strong, with a try five minutes in by Matt Garrod after early pressure. Things got worse for Hoppers, with Dec Norrington being shown a yellow. Fylde then capitalised on the man advantage, scoring their second try through Toby Harrison.

Preston tried to gain back some momentum as former Fylde fly-half Greg Smith scored a penalty, but this was countered when Fylde charged up the other end, scoring a try through Lewis Quinn.

Hoppers eventually recovered thanks to a Harry Holden try near the end of the half and came out flying in the second 40, as their kick-off was misjudged by Fylde, seeing Sam Russell to bag five points a minute into play.

This momentum continued when another driving maul ensured Holden got his second. Smith’s conversion handed Hoppers a firm lead, with Fylde replacement David Fair-brother seeing yellow.

But after being absent for much of the half, two yellows for Hoppers enabled the hosts to reply, Jordan Dorrington slamming the ball down between the posts. This left an easy conversion for Patrick Bishop, winning Fylde the game.
