REPLACEMENT scrumhalf Louis Townsend was hero of the hour as Sheffield Tigers ended their season on a high in a tight contest.
His try midway through the second period edged the hosts ahead and was enough to see off a committed Fylde.
Early Tigers pressure saw Will Baker stopped just short as Fylde’s solid defence stood firm. The visitors were rewarded in their first foray up field when Ethan Hall-White broke out of a 10m line-out to force his way over.
