Kivalu at the double as Titans make it ten in row

ROTHERHAM Titans shrugged off a slow start to rack up a tenth straight win, capped by two tries from replacement Loma Kivalu.

The prop profited from a powerful second half from the chasers, who had been fortunate to go in at half-time in front.

Conceding penalties and failing to make passes stick, they trailed 10-0 at the halfhour mark to a converted catch and drive score from hooker Sam Edwards and a penalty from Lewis Minikin.

But once Titans hit their straps, the outcome was never in doubt.

Second row John Okafor drove in next to the posts after Charlie Capps had made the initial incision and the impressive prop then turned try-scorer, burrowing in next to the sticks.

Lloyd Hayes converted both scores to give Rotherham a 14-10 half-time lead.

Titans had to withstand more Ionians pressure at the start of the second half before taking control.

Full-back Jack Townend showed good footwork to claim their next score and then Kivalu touched down to seal the four-try bonus point.

Rotherham added two more converted tries from No8 Callum Bustin and Kivalu before Alex Forth claimed a deserved late consolation score.
