Blaydon just had enough to see off Harrogate, with Chidera Obonna grabbing a second-half hat-trick.
The hosts took the lead after 10 minutes when Nathan Bailey ran hard through the defence to score, and John Clarkson converted.
But a minute later Harrogate hit back as Harry Yates steam rollered through the middle of the Blaydon back line to score under the posts, converted by Rory Mc-Nab.
And then an error from Blaydon set up the position for Yates to score his second Try to make it 7-12 at the break.
