Had Ionians lost this match, they could have had few complaints, with the hosts gifting Preston all four of their first-half tries.
The first was a formality for Tom Lee, after the hosts failed to clear up a kick-ahead, then abysmal passes presented three interception tries.
Even though the imperious George Mewburn had scored for the hosts, ‘Hoppers held a commanding 19-point lead at the break.
