Fylde opened their campaign with a hard-fought victory over Chester, with Tom Carleton to the fore.
The visitors opened the scoring with a Liam Reeve penalty but were reduced to 14 men when Harrison Vare was sinbinned for a deliberate offside. Fylde took advantage when Ben Gregory powered over from close range, with Greg Smith converting.
Reeve slotted over another penalty before Fylde capitalised on a knock-on by the Chester line to send Carleton over in the corner.
