HULL Ionians may look to have taken the honours convincingly.
But it was actually an even contest until the visitors kicked a spate of successive penalties in the second half and scored a runaway try at the very end.
Harrogate’s pack dominated in tight and loose play early on, and Sam Fox opened the scoring with a penalty.
Minutes later, Ionians regained possession from a Harrogate knock-on and a Ben Smith penalty levelled the scores.
