SUPER Stourbridge were on top form on home turf to put Scunthorpe to the sword in a thrilling performance at Stourton Park.
The hosts flew into an early lead and could scarcely have gotten out the blocks quicker with tries from Jack Lea, Dan Rundle and Alex Maxwell inside five minutes, all converted by Afeafe Haisila.
The visitors recovered with a rolling maul try on ten minutes for prop Oliver Cole, as they looked to stem the swelling tide.
Stourbridge though smelled blood and five minutes later Noah Heward scored from an attacking lineout – the bonus point registered within all of 15 explosive minutes.
Scunthorpe probed but could find no way though Stour’s solid defence and eventually Haisila piled on agony with a try after more good work from the excellent Lea.
Haislia then added the extras to make the score at half- time 33-5 – the game already gone for the visitors. From the restart Stour’s Heward added another try under the posts and Haisila made no mistake with the conversion, to demonstrate that the accelerator was still fully on.
Scunthorpe knew the game was long gone but to their credit continued to battle and toil, earning some joy.
Ben McStay crossed the whitewash after a scrappy right wing breakdown on 65 minutes, but from the restart Jack Samuel completed a flowing passing move for Stour with another try.
Scunny added a furtherfive points on 80 minutes when Tom Foster finished off a marauding run from Will Robinson.
That late score was just a consolation for the visitors, who were up against a Stourbridge team firing on all four cylinders.
