AFTER two victories by the narrowest of margins last season, Hoppers’ supporters anticipated a real, competitive game against Sheffield Tigers and they were not disappointed. In an entertaining and dogged test of two evenlymatched sides the first half was a scoreless stalemate until the 28th minute. Mark Ireland missed an early penalty for the visitors, who had Joe Symcox sent to the sin bin for foul play.
