THOMAS Aviss’ secondhalf try enabled Leicester Lions to edge Hinckley in a closely-fought local derby.
The scrum-half finished an elusive run midway through the second period by finding room to get over in the corner to give Lions the lead for the first time.
A spectacular touchline conversion by Harry Key extended the home side’s advantage to 14-10 which they held despite a fierce late Hinckley flurry.
