Leaders turn on second-half class

Tonbridge J…………40

Westcombe P……….. 5

IN-FORM TJs remain at the top of the table with a perfect 40-point haul after being involved in a tight first-half contest that gave way to a landslide of scores in the second.

The first half proved to be one for the purists as both sides made errors in what was an arm wrestle of an affair.

The league leaders struck first through last season’s Captain of Academy, Isaac Ridge, who smashed over from close range. Tom White converted.

Westcombe Park responded with a catchand-drive maul try, Kiri Kiri Antonio emerging with the ball.

Despite the tense first 40, the home side showed their class after the break, running in five further scores, utilising a mix of power, precision and some quality attacking out wide.

Tries came courtesy of Connor Lloyd, Will Holling, who bagged a brace from catch-anddrives, Shadyn Osgood and Tom Kendrick, with the reliable boot of White converting five out of six tries in another strong individual performance.

This was an impressive display of power and strength-in-depth from a much-changed TJs side who worked out the problems of the first half to come good in the end.
