Westcombe P………32

Hawks…….29

WESTCOMBE Park edged out Henley in an 11-try thriller.

Westcombe Park took the lead after four minutes, Harry Hudson going over and Toby Wallace converted.

Wallace himself went over three minutes later, but the lead was reduced when Rory Mason crashed over and Max Titchener improved the score.

There was no more scoring until the 28th minute when Hawks’ Leo Webb touched down in the corner. Wallace was quick to restore the Westcombe Park lead with his second try.

Hudson was sin-binned for foul play after 38 minutes and Spencer Hayhow levelled the scores within a minute.

Mikel Davies grabbed a try-double after 49 and 64 minutes, but Wallace couldn’t improve either score, so the lead was only 10. Back came Henley and Beau Delaney’s bonus-point try was improved by Titchener. The decisive moment came with five minutes remaining when Samuel Fombo went over for the sixth Westcombe Park try.

He then blotted his copybook by getting a yellow card with two minutes remaining.

There was time for one more Henley score, from Titchener, but it proved to be too little too late.
