Scintillating Sevenoaks turn on the second-half style

SEVENOAKS showed their quality with a big win over North Walsham.

But for 60 minutes this match was full-on, with Oaks’ indiscipline seeing them 7-12 behind at the break.

Two second-half yellows further slowed the Oaks progress before eventually the home team romped home.

The hosts opened the scoring when Finlay Davenport dived over in the corner after a scrum in the middle of the park, with the trusty boot of Ben Adams securing the extras.

In reply, Walsham knocked over four firsthalf penalties thanks to their pressure at the breakdown and a strew of Oaks’ errors.

Oaks that Adams also converted brought the scores to 14-15.

Then a third try for Oaks in the shape of Drew Forrester stretching his legs in the outside channel and Adams again getting the extras offered Oaks some breathing space.

Although two yellow cards halted Oaks’ second-half progress, an Adams penalty kept the scoreboard ticking over for the home side.

Then the floodgates opened, with three late tries for Oaks secured the match, and the bonus point victory.

First, Barney Stone scored through the centres before replacement Charlie Galligan powered over the line and Davenport crossed for a fine brace.
